What are chemical peels?

A chemical peel is a beauty treatment in which your provider applies a special solution to your skin to evenly exfoliate the top layer. By removing the top layer of your skin, chemical peels get rid of skin imperfections, improving your complexion. 

What are the types of chemical peels?

NuYou Beauty uses medical-grade chemical peels from SkinMedica® and SkinCeuticals. Some of the chemical peels available include:

Illuminize Peel®

To brighten your skin, NuYou Beauty may recommend the Illuminize Peel from SkinMedica. This superficial peel improves skin tone and texture with very little to no downtime. 

Rejuvenize Peel®  

The Rejuvenize Peel by SkinMedica reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to restore a more youthful look. This chemical peel contains a stronger acidic solution and may require some downtime. 

Vitalize Peel® 

For those with mild skin imperfections, NuYou Beauty recommends the Vitalize Peel by SkinMedica. This gentle chemical peel improves the tone and texture of your skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with very little downtime.

SkinCeuticals Smart TCA Peel

SkinCeuticals Smart TCA Peel is an anti-aging chemical peel that treats fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, laxity, and large pores. 

What happens during chemical peels?

The providers at NuYou Beauty customize your chemical peel treatment to match your skin type and beauty goals. They review the details of your plan at your consultation so you know what to expect during and after your treatment.

First, your provider cleanses your skin with an antibacterial agent. Depending on the strength of your chemical peel, they may also apply a numbing lotion. 

Once your skin is ready, your provider applies the chemical peel for a set period of time and then neutralizes the acid or removes the peel. They apply a cooling agent to your skin and sunscreen before sending you on your way. 

Light chemical peels may cause a burning or tingling sensation, similar to a sunburn. These side effects resolve within a few hours.

Stronger peels cause peeling that may last a week or more. NuYou Beauty recommends you not pick at your peeling skin to prevent scarring.
